Dordt Sweeps GPAC Volleyball Honors

Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played Oct. 9-15, 2017. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2017-2018 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Attacker – Ema Altena, Dordt College (Middle Blocker)
Dordt’s Ema Altena is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Altena, a junior, from Sioux Center, Iowa, averaged 4.63 kills per match, racking up 37 total kills in wins over No. 3 Northwestern and No. 24 Doane. She also added three blocks and 15 digs.

Setter – Jamie Gesink, Dordt College
Dordt’s Jamie Gesink is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Gesink, a junior from Sioux Center, Iowa, averaged 11.25 assists and directed a Defender offense that picked up a pair of GPAC wins over ranked teams. She also added 10 kills 32 digs, three blocks and two ace serves.

Defender – Summer Jansen, Dordt College (Defensive Specialist)
Dordt defensive specialist Summer Jansen is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Jansen, a senior from Sheldon, Iowa, averaged 6.25 digs per set to help lead the Defenders to a 2-0 week. She converted 90 percent of her serve receptions and added 50 digs in the pair of wins.
