Dordt Tops NWC In GPAC Volleyball

Dordt College overcame a slow start and turned away Northwestern in a match-up of GPAC rivals Tuesday night in Sioux Center.

The Defenders were on their heels early and fell behind 6-1 in set one.  Dordt never put together a serious threat, never getting closer than five after a 10-5 deficit and fell 25-15.  Dordt surrendered six service aces in that set.

Set two was the polar opposite with Dordt taking a 7-1 lead with Aubrey Drake serving for six of the points. The lead quickly ballooned to 10 and the Defenders finished the set on a Leah Kamp kill for a 25-13 victory.

With the momentum behind them, the Defenders built an early 10-6 lead in set three and withstood each Northwestern challenge, never leading by less than three and won 25-20.

Set four was more of the same with Dordt building a 16-12 lead. This time Northwestern cut the lead to 17-16 but a Julia Lindbergh kill made it 18-16 and two more kills by Ally Krommendyk effectively put the match out of reach with Dordt prevailing 25-19.
