Eric Maassen Named Sheldon Orab Volleyball Coach

At the Sheldon Community School Board Meeting Wednesday night, the district approved the contract of Eric Maassen as Head High School Volleyball Coach.
Maassen takes over for Michelle Hoogers who will oversee the volleyball program at Riverland Community College in Austin Minnesota.
Maassen talked with KIWA Sports about taking over the program that has made two trips to the State Tournament in the past three years.
Maassen is a first time head coach at the varsity level but has been an assistant with the boys basketball program acting as the head coach of the JV program. He has also been a head coach at the middle school level of the Orab Baseball Program. The Orabs new volleyball coach comes from a volleyball family.
That’s where the Orabs coaching staff will play an even more important role.
We also asked Maassen about his vision for the program.
Open gym is currently being offered for the Sheldon Orab players with an August 4th scrimmage at Estherville soon approaching. Practice officially gets underway on Monday August 6th.

Eric will do fine. Michelle left when the talent ran out. She couldn’t coach herself out of a wet paper bag!
