G-LR-CL Falls To 5th Ranked E-LC In Softball Regional Final

Sheldon, Iowa — George Little Rock Central Lyon saw their season come to a close in the Class 3A Region 1 title game as 5th ranked Estherville Lincoln Central took a 2-0 lead after the first inning and pushed it to a 4-0 advantage with 2 more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Some late inning fireworks put the game away as lead off hitter Kristin King launched a two out grand slam to left field giving the Midgets an 8-0 lead.
The game ended in the bottom of the sixth when Kendall Bosch connected on a two run shot to left field to make the score 10-0.
Bosch who came into the contest with a .71 era struck out 9 batters and gave up just one hit in the ballgame. Lexi Ackerman drove it to the base of the fence in centerfield for a double. Abbie Eben took the loss giving up 6 hits in the contest.
With the win E-LC improves to 27-6 on the year while G-LR-CL ends a 20 win season at 21-8.
In the 3A District 2 title game at Wall Lake 9th ranked Ballard ended 11th ranked MOC Floyd Valley’s season with a 10-4 win.
In Class 1A the upset of the night happened in LeMars as unranked LeMars Gehlen handed top ranked and defending State Champion Akron Westfield just their second loss of the season with a 4-1 win.
In Class 2A at Algona Garrigan 7th ranked Emmetsburg won the Region 1 title with a 3-1 win over Lake Mills.
