Generals Stifle Orab Bats, Advance In District Baseball

The Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals were able to stifle the Sheldon Orab bats and come away with the 7-3 victory in District baseball Saturday night.

The Generals scored first in the opening frame as Preston Marco singled to second and drove in Isaac Doeden to take an early 1-0 lead. Sibley-Ocheyedan scored again in the top of the 2nd. Isaac Doeden drove in Trevor Doeden from third, and Thomas Doeden drove in Bryan Green to take a 3-0 lead. The Generals added another run in the 4th to take a 4-0 lead, but Sheldon was able to respond with their first run of the game when Phil Cain singled to right to score Tyler Merley. After four innings, it was 4-1 Sibley-Ocheyedan. The Generals added some insurance with 3 runs coming in the top of the seventh. Sheldon was able to add two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Generals came away with the 7-3 win.

Tyler Johnson took the loss for the Orabs. Johnson went 6 innings while giving up 4 earned on 8 hits, while striking out 8.

Preston Marco got the win for the Generals. Marco gave up 3 earned run on 7 hits, and struck out 4 in the complete game outing.

Sibley-Ocheyedan improves to 10-12 and will play West Lyon Tuesday night in Larchwood at 7:00 pm. Sheldon’s year comes to an end at 7-15.
