Girls Regional Basketball Tournament Assignments Out

The brackets are out for the upcoming girl’s regional basketball tournaments. In Class 3A Sheldon will open play in the lower bracket of Region 2 at Spirit Lake against the Indians. Also in the lower bracket it’s Sioux Center at Unity. In the upper bracket it’s Central Springs at Garner Hayfield and Forest City at Osage. First round play begins Saturday February 9th.
In Class 3A Region 1 MOC Floyd Valley will host Sergeant Bluff Luton in a lower bracket opener. Also in the lower bracket its Cherokee at OA-BCIG. Up top its Greene County at East Sac County and Gilbert at South Central Calhoun. First round play begins Saturday February 9th.
E-LC also state ranked and from the Lakes Conference were assigned to Region 3 of Class 3A.
In Class 2A Region 1 defending State Champion Western Christian got a bye into the regional semis. In the upper bracket Emmetsburg will be at Pocahontas with the winner advancing to the semis against North Union. Also in the upper bracket it’s HMS at Sioux Central with the winner at Okoboji in the semis. In the lower bracket Boyden Hull is at Sibley Ocheyedan with the winner at South O’Brien for the semis. West Lyon will be at Rock Valley with the winner at Western for the semis. First round play in Class 2A is set for Saturday February 9th.
In Class 1A Region 1 play in games begin Thursday February 7th. In the upper bracket Remsen St Mary’s is at MMC with the winner in the quarterfinals against West Sioux who got a first round bye. Also in the upper bracket in the first round it’s Laurens Marathon at Storm Lake St Mary’s and West Bend Mallard at Algona Garrigan. In the lower bracket it’s Graettinger Terril Ruthven Ayrshire at Clay Central Everly and Spalding at G-LR. Trinity will be at Harris Lake Park with the winner meeting Central Lyon who got the lower bracket first round bye.
