Haak Joins Defender Football

Austin Haak, a senior at Western Christian High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender football program.

Haak, a 6-2, 190 pound defensive end, helped Western to an 8-3 record in 2017 and a berth in the Class 1A State Quarterfinals. He had 23 solo and 26 assisted tackles with six tackles for loss and three quarterback sacks. In 2016 he had 11 solo and 11 assisted stops as Western claimed a Class 1A Championship.

“Austin stood out to us in the recruiting process as a young man who fits what we look for in a football recruit. We envision him thriving here and will be a tremendous teammate. At defensive end, he plays with a great motor and possesses great athleticism for a guy who plays close to the line of scrimmage,” said Dordt College football coach Joel Penner.

Austin is the son of Kelly and Patty Haak of Rock Valley, Iowa. He plans to enter the Pre-Physical Therapy program at Dordt.
