Heelan Slips by Orab Boys in Hall of Pride Basketball Game

Sheldon Iowa — The Sheldon High School Gym was a busy place Saturday afternoon with a pair of Hall of Pride games followed by the annual alumni games. In the first game of the day Sioux City North downed Spirit Lake 68-43. A last second shot failed to drop for the Orabs in the second game and Bishop Heelan had a 50-49 win.

Sheldon led at the first quarter break 16-14 and were up at the half 26-24. At the end of the third quarter a 3-point bucket at the buzzer by Kaleb Ackerman put the Orabs up 40-34. Heelan took the lead late in the fourth quarter and hit the free throws they needed to down the stretch as they got the win 50-49. As a team the Crusaders went 8-of-9 in the fourth quarter and 15-of-20 for the game at the free throw line.

Sheldon had two players in double figures getting 11 points each from Ackerman and Marshall Kleinhesselink.  The Crusaders had two players in double figures as well. Cole Hogue had a game high  14 points. Drew Olson hit for 13.
