Iowa Football Playoffs Mark 40th Year in the UNI Dome

ihsaa_officeCedar Falls Iowa — For literally tens of thousands of high school football players, “The Road to the Dome” has been their goal since 1976, when the Iowa High School Athletic Association moved its State Championship games to Cedar Falls inside the UNI-Dome.
The title games had been contested only four years prior to the University of Northern Iowa opening the Dome and this fall the IHSAA is celebrating its 40th year in the facility with several features on its website, Twitter account and Facebook page.

To commemorate the 40th year of “The Road to the Dome,” the IHSAA will begin a 40-day countdown to the 2015 state championships. Starting Saturday, October 10th the IHSAA will post daily trivia questions and fun facts reflecting the championship achievements of teams, coaches, players, and officials. In addition, video highlights from selected championship games will also be posted.

Fans can test their knowledge with the trivia questions on the IHSAA Facebook page which will be posted by 10:30 a.m. each day with the answers being revealed by 2:30 p.m.

A special logo will mark the observance. Inside the Dome, the champions of the past 40 years a number of which are from Northwest Iowa will be honored with concourse displays and on the video board. The football playoffs begin Wednesday, October 28th with the finals commencing in UNI-Dome on November 19th and 20th.
