Kiel, Horstman Earn All-American Honors

Two Northwestern College volleyball players, Anna Kiel and A.J. Horstman, were named NAIA All-American honors as announced by the national office earlier today.

Kiel, from Maurice, Iowa, is one of 14 players to earn first team honors. The sophomore middle hitter put down a team-leading 3.4 kills per set, sixth best in the GPAC, while ranking 10th in the NAIA with a .362 hitting percentage. Kiel totaled 105 blocks, ninth most in the conference, and averaged two digs per set while posting 28 matches with 10+ kills this season. She also had four double-doubles (kills/digs) and was a first team all-conference selection.

Horstman, also a first team all-conference pick, earned honorable mention All-American honors. The sophomore was second on the team in both kills (2.8) and ace serves (47) while hitting .260 as the Red Raiders rightside hitter. Horstman averaged 2.1 digs per set and totaled 86 blocks, third most on the team, and had 18 matches with 10+ kills to go with six double-doubles.

Northwestern finished the season with a 30-6 overall record, earning a spot in the round of 16 at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
