Sheldon Iowa — Kingsley Pierson Woodbury Central won the varsity team title at the annual Sheldon boys track invite Thursday. Sheldon finished second in both the varsity and JV competition with LeMars taking the JV team title. Nick Phelps of Kingsley Pierson Woodbury Central continued a dominant season in the field events setting new meet records in both the discus and shot put. In the Discus he went 175-04. His shot put throw was 64-08.00.
Top finishes for the Orabs included Jaden Kleinhesslink who was second in the 800 with a time of 2:03.71. Alec Still of KP-WC had the winning time in 2:00.29. Dawson Jacobsma won the 3200 in 10:39.49. Jon Veldman of Western Christian was second at 10:42.42. Brandon Winkel won the 110 hurdles in 15.88. The second place time by Kyle Kliever of LeMars was 15.92.
In the relay events Sheldon won the 4 x 800 in 8:34.25. Team members include Mitchal Van Gorp, Steven Van Meeteren, Kyle Boerhave and Alex Zoelle. Western Christian was second in 8:56.39. Team members include Trevin Hulstein, Tristin Hulstein, Zach Elbers and Nolan VandeGriend. Sheldon was second in the 4 x 110 Shuttle Hurdle in 1:06.35. Team members include Quinton Wynia, Austin Kavanagh, Ben Jongewaard and Brandon Winkel. LeMars won it in a time of 1:05.47. Sheldon was second in the 4 x 400 with a time of 3:41.30. Team members include Tyler Lode, Jacob Canales, Mitchal Van Gorp and Jaden Kleinhesselink. The winning time was 3:34.06 turned in by KP-WC.
In the field events Tyler Lode won the high jump 6-02.00. Ben Gesink of Western was second at 6-00.00. Brandon Winkel won the long jump at 19-10.00 followed by JT Engebretson of LeMars at 19-00.00.
