Kuchel To Play Softball at Northwestern

Hartley, Iowa — Kaylen Kuchel has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Northwestern next fall.

Kuchel is a 5’5” pitcher and infielder who has played four years for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School heading into her final season this summer. Kuchel posted an 11-12 record with a 3.02 ERA in earning all-state and all-conference honors last year as a junior. She struck out 122 batters in 134.1 innings and also hit .291 at the plate. Kuchel plans to major in pre-physical therapy at Northwestern and is the daughter of Melanie.

“We are thrilled to have Kaylen join our softball program and the Red Raider community,” said Northwestern head coach Chris Nachtigall. “Kaylen’s attitude, work ethic and drive to be a great teammate will allow her to have great success in our program. I am confident that she will have a positive impact both on our team and on our campus.”
