Lawton De Jong to Play Football and Baseball at Northwestern

Lawton De Jong of Orange City has signed a letter of intent to continue his football and baseball careers at Northwestern College next year.
De Jong is a 62, 220-pound offensive/defensive lineman who played three years for the MOC-Floyd Valley football team. De Jong earned first team all-district honors as a member of an offensive line that paved the way for a rushing offense that gained 1,420 yards and scored 19 touchdowns.
On defense, De Jong totaled 52 tackles and led the Dutch with four fumble recoveries. De Jong earned academic all-district honors and is the son of Dan and Kim.
De Jong earned first team all-conference honors in leading the Dutch to a 19-9 record last summer. He hit .402 with 10 doubles and a team-high 34 RBIs while also earning first team all-Northwest Iowa Review honors.
