Lawton DeJong and Justin Wolert Named to Preseason All American Football Team

Northwestern logoOrange City Iowa — Two Northwestern College football players were named to the Instant Scouting NAIA Preseason All-American Team announced earlier this week.

Lawton DeJong (Orange City, Iowa) and Justin Wohlert (Hartley, Iowa) earned the preseason honor. De Jong, a senior defensive end, led all defensive linemen with 36.5 tackles last season, earning first team all-conference honors. A second team all-conference pick in 2013, De Jong led the GPAC with eight sacks for a loss of 39 yards. He added six quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles.

Wohlert, a senior defensive back, received NAIA/AFCA All-American honors in 2014 after leading the NAIA with nine interceptions. He broke up an NAIA-best 22 passes and totaled 29 tackles. Wohlert, an honorable mention all-GPAC pick in 2012, received NAIA defensive player of the week accolades and was a two-time GPAC player of the week selection in 2014.
