LeMars And Heelan Meet For Trip To State

The LeMars Bulldogs will try to earn a spot in the State Class 3A Baseball Tournament as they meet Bishop Heelan in the 3A Substate 1 game at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs come into the game at 28-6 on the season having won 10 of their last 11 games. Heelan enters the game at 33-10. Checking the team numbers LeMars has a team batting average of .313 with an on base percentage of .408. Heelan counters with a team batting average of .379 and an on base percentage of .461.

The pitching stats favor LeMars with a team era of 2.34 and an opponent’s batting average of .174. The team era for Heelan stands at 2.48 with an opponent’s batting average of .237.

The two teams met on one occasion this year at a tournament in Elk Point South Dakota on June 15th. That game went to Heelan on a score of 12-6.

First pitch is at 7:00 Wednesday night from Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City the home of the Explorers.
