Rock Rapids, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs and Central Lyon Lions split a Siouxland Conference doubleheader Tuesday night in Rock Rapids. The girls game went to the Lions 57-41, while the boys game went to Sheldon 66-45.
The Central Lyon grabbed the lead early and led at every break. With the help of a 9-0 run, Central Lyon led 18-7, and heading into the half it was 32-19 Lions. After three it was 40-29 Lions, and Central Lyon later went on to win 57-41.
Central Lyon got a game high fourteen points from Sutton Schlumbohm. Sheldon had two players in double figures. Katie Wagner had a team high twelve points, while Brooklyn Grady added ten.
With the win, Central Lyon ends the regular season at 13-8 on the year, and 12-6 in the conference. Sheldon ends the regular season at 5-16 and 4-14 in the Siouxland.
Central Lyon jumped out of the gate to start the game and led by as much as five, but Sheldon battled back in the first quarter to tie things up at 16-16 after the opening stanza. Sheldon then took command and at the break, led 37-25. After three the Orabs led 55-29, and went on to win 66-45.
Sheldon had three players in double figures. Ryan Van Marel had a game high eighteen. Kyle Boerhave had thirteen points, and Tyler Merley added twelve. Central Lyon had two players in double figures. Zed Heimensen had a team high seventeen points, and Brady Wright had fifteen points.
Sheldon improves to 17-3 on the year, and 14-3 in the Siouxland. Central Lyon falls to 1-19 on the season, and 0-17 in the conference.
Up next for the Orab boys is the regular season finale at home against West Lyon Friday night. The Orab girls start regional play on Saturday night against Spirit Lake in Spirit Lake Saturday night. The Central Lyon girls start their tournament trail at home Saturday night against Rock Valley. The Lion boys will be at Okoboji Friday night to end their regular season.
