Match ups set for GPAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship Games

GPAC Mens BasketballTop seed Dordt and two seed Morningside were semifinal winners on Saturday in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Postseason Basketball Tournament. The number one seed Defenders defeated 4th seed Hastings 83-67 at home, while three seed Morningside also won at home in double overtime over #6 Dakota Wesleyan 108-106. Tip-off in Sioux Center will be at 7pm at De Witt Gymnasium.

Both teams have now secured automatic berths in the 2014 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship in Point Lookout, Missouri, which will run March 12-18 at the College of the Ozarks.

 

On the women’s side top seed Northwestern and three seed Morningside were semifinal winners on Saturday in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Postseason Basketball Tournament. The number one seed Red Raiders defeated 4th seed Concordia 101-80 at home, while three seed Morningside won at 2nd seed Hastings 65-55.

Northwestern will host Morningside for GPAC Championship Tuesday, sponsored by Rawlings, will be on Tuesday, March 4. Tip-off in Orange City will be at 7pm at the Bultman Center.

Both teams have now secured automatic berths in the 2014 NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship in Sioux City, Iowa, which will run March 12-18 at the Tyson Events Center.
