MOC Floyd Valley Takes two From Sheldon

moc_Floyd Valley logoOrange City Iowa — The MOC Floyd Valley Dutch swept a Siouxland Conference basketball doubleheader against Sheldon Friday night in Orange City. The final in the girls game was 58-34 with the boys final 64-49.

In the girls game the Lady Dutch led at all the breaks they were up 19-9 at the end of the first quarter and led 34-15 at the half. At the end of three it was 46-23 as they went on to win 58-34. The Lady Dutch got a game high 18 points from Breana Schuiteman and 12 from Grace De Haan. Sheldon was led by Kayla Van Meeteren with 10 points in the contest.

With the win MOC FLoyd Valley stays unbeaten on the year and in the conference at 4-0. Sheldon stands at 2-4 on the season and 1-4 in the conference.

 

In the boys game the Dutch were in control through out as they led 16-6 at the end of the first quarter and moved to a 33-18 halftime lead. at the end of the third quarter the lead was 54-30 with MOC Floyd Valley going on to post a 64-49 win. Sheldon got a season high 24 points from Ian Jongewaard including 5 three point buckets. Kyle Boerhave added 13. The Dutch were led by Christian Korver with 15 points followed by Justin Te Grotenhuis with 11.

MOC Floyd Valley improves to 3-1 on the season and in the Siouxland. Sheldon is 3-2 for the year and 3-1 in the conference.

Sheldon returns to action Tuesday with a trip to Sioux Center. MOC Floyd Valley heads cross town on Saturday being hosted by Unity Christian.
