MOC Floyd Valley Will Play For State 3A Volleyball Title on Saturday

3rd ranked MOC Floyd Valley will meet 7th ranked Union Saturday for the Class 3A State Volleyball title following semi final play on Friday at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The title match is set for 2 pm.

In the lower bracket semis MOC Floyd Valley posted a 3-1 win over 10th ranked Mount Vernon who finishes the season at 28-11. The set scores were 22-25, 25-18, 27-25 and 25-15.

Alexis Conaway who has committed to Iowa State led the way with 32 kills, 21 digs and 5 blocks. Emily McDonald added 5 blocks as well. Shelby Schouten had 13 kills. Conaway went 17-of-19 serving with 2 ace serves. Katie Landhuis was 19-of-20 serving for the Lady Dutch.
In the upper bracket Sam Barz and Payton Hilton combined for 25 kills to lead Union into the Class 3A championship match with a three-set sweep over top-ranked and previously unbeaten Mediapolis. The set scores were 25-19, 27-25 and 25-15.

Barz recorded 13 kills and four aces to lead Union while Hilton added 12 kills and 16 digs. The Knight defense forced 14 errors and limited the Bullettes to a hitting percentage of .098. Mediapolis finishes the year at 43-1.

MOC Floyd Valley enters the title match with a record of 32-8. Union will come in at 35-7.
