Morningside’s Kneifl to Compete At NAIA Track and Field Championship

Morningside College will send 13 athletes to compete in 11 events at the 2018 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships this Thursday through Saturday at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The top eight finishers in each individual and relay event at the NAIA National Championships are awarded NAIA All-America status.

Kati Kneifl is one  of the Mustangs’ top prospects to earn NAIA All-America honors along with Reece Jackson.

Kneifl, a junior from Sheldon, Iowa, is this year’s GPAC champion in the women’s javelin and has the second longest throw in the nation with a school-record distance of 152-2. Kneifl’s school-record throw made her a champion at this year’s Drake Relays, where she reigned over a 19-athlete field that included 13 competitors from NCAA Division I schools.

Reece Jackson, a junior from Marcus, Iowa, is competing in the 110-meter high hurdles. Jackson, this year’s GPAC runner-up, is ranked 24th with a time of 14.70.
