Nighthawks are Dome Bound

nighthawk logoDenison, Iowa – The #2 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Nighthawks are UNI-Dome bound after defeating the #6 Kuemper Catholic Knights 49-28 in Denison Friday night.

The Nighthawks were first to draw blood when Jacob Schafer took the opening kickoff 96 yards for the score. 15 seconds into the contest it was 7-0 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley. Kuemper Catholic responded with a scoring drive of their own. Gage Gunnerson found Colton Irlbeck from 9 yards out for the score. With 4:12 left in the 1st, it was 7-7. BHRV scored again with under a minute to go in the 1st. Jacob Schafer found the whole and ran 70 yards for the score, making it 14-7 Nighthawks.

The 2nd period was all Nighthawks. Shane Solberg found the goal line from 2 yards out, and Kobe Lutjens was on the receiving end of a 33, and 12 yard Touchdown reception from Brett Moser. Heading into halftime it was 35-7 Nighthawks.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley was the first team to strike in the 2nd half. Brett Moser crossed the goal line from 1 yard out to push the score to 42-7 with 1:09 left in the 3rd quarter. But Kuemper Catholic would not go quietly into the night. Lucas Lampe recovered a JT Van’t Hul fumble and took it 55 yards for the score, and following another Nighthawk turnover, Irlbeck was on the receiving end of a 3 yard TD reception from Gunnerson. Late in the 4th it was 42-21 Nighthawks.

The Nighthawks got another big play from Schafer late in the contest. Schafer would get to the endzone from 51 yards out to push the score to 49-12, and your final would be 49-28 after a late Knight’s touchdown.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley improves to 10-1 on the year, and will play Dike-New Hartford on Saturday, November 12th at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls at 4:06 pm.

Kumper Catholic ends their year at 9-2.
