Nighthawks Defense Dominant in Win

Cherokee’s first drive of the game would end early after a Shane Solberg interception, and a few plays later, Solberg would find the open hole and score from 32 yards making it 7-0 Nighthawks early. With 5:18 left to go in the 1st, benefiting from a short field, Solberg was on the receiving end of a 32 yard Brett Moser pass for the score making it 14-0 BHRV. After another Solberg interception, Kobe Lutjens was the recipient of a 33 yard TD pass pushing the score to 21-0 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley. With 1:11 left in the 1st quarter, the Nighthawks again found pay dirt. Jacob Schafer would get into the endzone on a 19-yard screen play. Heading into the 2nd quarter it was 28-0 Nighthawks.
Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley added two more scores in the 2nd quarter. Working with a short field after a long Solberg punt return, Brett Moser would rush into the endzone from 15 yards out, and midway through the 2nd, Schafer ran 33 yards for the score. At halftime it was 41-0 BHRV.
Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley added another score in the 3rd quarter on a JT Van’t Hul 31 yard scamper making it 48-0. Cherokee responded with their first score of the game. Mason Pitts found Trey Valentine from 12 yards out to make it 48-7. Trevor Lundquist would add another Cherokee score to the board from 2 yards out, but after a Nighthawk drive stalled, Cherokee backup QB Alex Paulsrud would throw a pick-six to Brayton Van Kekerix, making the score, and your final 56-15.
The Nighthawks improve to 5-1 on the year, 4-0 in the district. Next on the schedule is MOC-Floyd Valley in Orange City on Friday night.
Cherokee falls to 3-3 on the year, 3-1 in district play and plays host Central Lyon/George-Little Rock next Friday.
