Nighthawks Defense Overwhelms Dutch

nighthawk logoOrange City, Iowa — The Nighthawk defense would force 6 turnovers in the first half and come away with a decisive 56-8 victory over MOC-Floyd Valley.

The Nighthawks struck quickly on their first drive of the game. Kendrick Van Kekerix was on the receiving end of a 48-yard Brett Moser pass for the quick score and 7-0 lead. After a Dutch turnover late in the 1st quarter, Jacob Schafer punched it in from 1 yard out for the score, making it 13-0 BHRV.

A barrage of Nighthawk scores followed in the 2nd quarter. Kobe Lutjens was on the receiving end of a 27 yard TD pass, Brett Moser ran for a 1 yard score, Shane Solberg scored on a 25 yard reception, Schafer ran into the endzone from 10 yards out, and Solberg returned an interception 80 yards for the pick-six. Heading into halftime it was 49-0 Nighthawks.

MOC-Floyd Valley got their only score of the game with 13 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Josiah Jansen threw for the 32 yard score to Kyle TeGrootenhuis making it 49-8 Nighthawks. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley responded with a drive of their own and with 5:58 to go in the game JT Van’t Hul found the endzone from 2 yards out, making the score and your final 56-8.

The Nighthawks improve to 6-1 on the year, 5-0 in the district and play host to Sioux Center next Friday.

MOC-Floyd Valley falls to 1-6 on the year, 1-4 in the district and travel to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock Friday.
