Nighthawks Downed by SBL in District Final

Storm Lake Iowa — Boyden Hull Rock Valley saw their season come to a close in the Class 3A District 2 Championship Game as they fell to Sergeant Bluff Luton 8-0. SBL will move on to Wednesday’s Substate game in LeMars. The Warriors will take on Heelan who downed LeMars who hosted the District 1 final 11-1 in a five inning contest. 

A pair of 4 run innings powered Sergeant Bluff Luton to the win. A 4  run second inning was highlighted by  Carter Schumacher who singled in a run and later came in to score. Dylan Laughlin plated a run with a fielders choice and scored a run as well.

A 4 run fourth inning was highlighted by a 2 run single to right off the bat of Daniel Wright. Cade Van Zee and Eric Salazar each singled off Cody Salker who threw a complete game 2 hitter for Sergeant Bluff Luton to earn the win. He struck out 9 and waked just 2 in the contest.

Eric Salazar took the loss going the first 3 innings before being chased in the fourth inning. He gave up just 4 hits while walking 4 and striking out 5.

With the win Sergeant Bluff Luton improves to 26-12-1 on the year. The Nighthawks end the year in the District title game with a record of 15-9.
