Nighthawks Run To Victory

Hull, Iowa — Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley’s Kodi Noble had nearly 250 yards from scrimmage and five scores, and the defense added 9 points of their own as the Nighthawks cruised to a 45-20 victory over district foe Heelan.

The Nighthawks forced an early Crusaders three and out, and scored on the ensuing drive. Noble punched it in from 3 yards out to give the Nighthawks an early 7-0 lead. After another Crusader 3 and out, the snap for the punt went over the Heelan punter’s head, and BHRV got the safety to make it 9-0. The Nighthawks scored on the next drive with a Noble 2 yard dive to make it 16-0 with 1:55 to go in the opening frame.

To start the second quarter, Caleb Kats scrambled to keep the play alive, found Noble in open space who took the reception 42-yards for the score. The extra point snap was bobbled, and Kats took the fire drill to the corner of the endzone for the two points to make 24-0 with 11:43 to go in the first half. Heelan finally got on the board with a 7 minute drive. Nathan Favors found Brayden Pratt from 8 yards out to pull within 24-7. The Nighthawks got back on the board on the next drive when Noble scored from one yard out. Heelan was driving into Nighthawk territory when Jaxon Rozeboom took an interception 67 yards for the score just before halftime to make it 38-7.

The Nighthawks added another Noble score from 9 yards out in the third quarter and Heelan added 2 scores in 4th, and the Nighthawks got the win 45-20.

BHRV improves to 2-2 on the year and 1-1 in the district. Heelan falls to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in district play.

The Nighthawks host Le Mars next week in Rock Valley. Heelan is on the road to Spencer.
