Nighthawks Special Teams Highlight Victory

nighthawk logoHull, Iowa — Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley defeated the LeMars Bulldogs 49-20 at AR Hesla Field in Hull on Friday.

The Nighthawks would get things started quickly. On the first drive of the game Ashton Kooiker would punch it in from 1 yard out. That was setup by a 46 yard Kyle Van Ginkel reception. With 8:43 left in the 1st it was 7-0 Nighthawks. BHRV would keep on scoring in the 1st. Midway through the quarter, after LeMars turned it over on downs, Myles Van Maanen would find the edge and get into the endzone from 13 yards out, making it 14-0. Van Maanen would score again with 3:22 left in the 1st with a 6 yard run. That was set up by a Van Maanen 28 yard run. With 3:22 left in the opening quarter it was 21-0 in favor of the Nighthawks. LeMars would get into the endzone with 57 seconds left in the 1st after Gabe Eckstaine found Devin Louison for an 11 yard TD reception. After the 2 point conversion it was 21-8, still in BHRV’s favor. Shane Solberg would answer on the ensuing kickoff, returning it 85 yards for the touchdown. After 1, it was 28-8.

In the 2nd quarter, LeMars would have the ball nearly the whole quarter but come away empty handed. Late in the 2nd, Jacob Schaeffer would block the Bulldog punt and Dusty Woelber would pick it up and return it 36 yards for the touchdown making it 35-8. On the Nighthawk kickoff, LeMars would fumble the return, and Kyle Van Ginkel would find the endzone later in the drive on an 18 yard touchdown reception from Brett Moser.

At halftime it was 42-8 Nighthawks.

Midway through the 3rd quarter, Shane Solberg would get back into the endzone on a 15 yard run. That was set up by a Tyler Niemeyer 22 yard catch on 4th and 7. 49-8 was the score midway in the 3rd.

LeMars would score 2 more times in the 4th quarter, but BHRV would come away victorious 49-20.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley improves to 6-2 on the season, 3-2 in the district and closes the regular season at Denison-Schleswig next Friday.

LeMars falls to 1-7 on the season, 1-4 district play, and finishes their season vs Bishop Heelan.
