Northwestern Golf Places Second in California

Northwestern College posted a second place finish at the two-day, 54-hole Desert Intercollegiate Invite held at The Golf Club at Terra Lago (South Course) in Indio, Calif.

In second place after Monday’s first two rounds, Northwestern held its place and finished second out of 21 teams with a 54-hole total of 951. Head Coach Aaron Aberson’s squad battled the windy, nearly unplayable conditions for the second straight day and closed with a 320. They were 10 strokes in front of Menlo College (961) and 19 better than Wiliam Jessup (Calif.).

Victoria (B.C.) won the meet with a 903 and recorded the low score in each of the three rounds.

Isaac Knock placed seventh overall and was the top golfer for Coach Aberson’s squad, carding a 54-hole total of 232. It was the third top 10 finish of the season for the freshman as he opened and closed with a 77 and shot a 78 in Monday’s second round. Colton Kooima tied for 19th with a 240 (84/74/82) in his season debut, followed by fellow senior Evan Schuler who tied for 29th with a 243. Austin Reitz (T33rd-244) and Justin Kraft (T53-250) round out the Red Raider golfers.
