Northwestern Has Seven Named to GPAC All-Conference First Teams Sheldon Grad Named to Second Team

Jordan Carlson from Northwestern was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year while Joel Nixon from Morningside has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year. Steve Ryan from Morningside was named the Hauff Mid-America/GPAC Coach-of-the-Year.

Morningside was the regular season conference champion for 2012 (9-0). Morningside and Northwestern qualified for the NAIA Football Championship Series opening on Saturday, November 17th, with first round action. Morningside will host Montana Tech, while Northwestern travels to Marian of Indiana.

Sheldon grad Brett Doorenbos, a 6-2, 255 lb. junior defensive lineman from Boyden was named to the second team defense.

Playing for Morningside Doorenbos totaled 27 tackles, including 8.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage for losses of 33 yards during the regular season. He has a team-high three quarterback hurries and is second on the team with four quarterback sacks.
