Northwestern Men’s Basketball Season Comes To End

Date posted - March 10, 2012

Jordan Call scored 26 of his game-high 33 points in the second half as #8 Northwest Washington knocked off #9 Northwestern 83-74 in the second round of the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship Friday afternoon.

After shooting only 32% in the first half, Northwest Washington heated up to 55% in the second half and went 6-of-12 from the three-point line.

Northwest Washington led 12-8 early on but the Red Raiders scored seven in a row and pushed the lead to 22-16 with 10 minutes gone by in the first half. The Eagles fought their way back after a timeout and held a 30-29-halftime lead.

Down three in the second half, Northwestern grabbed its final lead (45-42) after consecutive three-point plays by Ryan Stock and Walker Seim. An ensuing 14-2 Northwest Washington run put the Eagles up for good but the Red Raiders kept it close behind the shooting of Walker Seim, who hit a tournament high seven three-pointers. The Eagles were able to make enough plays at the end to hold off any Red Raider comeback attempt.

Northwestern shot 40% for the game and was led by Seim, who scored 32 points. Ryan Stock scored 12 points before fouling out with three minutes to go. Ben Miller and Zack Leeper added 11 points each. The Red Raiders season came to a close with a 26-7 record.

Northwest Washington moves on with a 29-4 season mark.
