Northwestern Red Raiders Return to NAIA Playoffs

Northwestern College has qualified for the NAIA Football Championship Series (FCS) for the first time since 2006 and the 16th time in the programs history. The Red Raiders moved up two spots to 12th in the final NAIA coaches’ poll, announced on Sunday, and will play #5 Marian of Indiana on Saturday, November 17th. Kick off will be at noon in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be the first ever match-up between the two teams.

Marian spent the five weeks in the top spot but lost to Saint Xavier on November 3rd to fall back to fifth. The Knights are 8-1 this season and are members of the Mid-States Football Mideast Conference. Northwestern moves on with a 9-2 overall record.

Northwestern is one of two GPAC teams in the field of 16, joining #3 Morningside. The Mustangs (10-0) will open at home with a 1pm kick off against (8-2) Montana Tech.
