Northwestern’s Sam Van Ginkel Earns Another National Honor

Northwestern logoPostseason honors continue to roll in for Sam Van Ginkel as the Northwestern senior was named a Victory Sports Network (VSN) 2016 Football All-American as announced by the VSN office.

Van Ginkel, a two-time NAIA All-American and also a BSN All-American in 2013, is the all-time sacks leader both in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and at Northwestern with 39.5 for his career.

This season, Van Ginkel led the GPAC and ranked ninth in the NAIA with 11 sacks while being second on the team with 38.5 tackles. He also totaled a team-high nine quarterback hurries. Van Ginkel was a four-time first team all-conference selection and was named the GPAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015.

A Rock Valley native Van Ginkel was a high school stand out for the Western Christian football program.
