Madison, SD — The seventh-ranked Northwestern Red Raiders men’s basketball team posted its first road win of the year, defeating the Dakota State Trojans.
In the battle of last year’s NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball national qualifiers Tuesday evening at DSU Fieldhouse, Northwestern jumped to a 16-point halftime lead. Dakota State used a late second-half rally but fell short to the nationally-ranked Northwestern 78-70.
Dakota State suffered their first defeat of the season and dropped their overall record to 1-1. Northwestern, No. 7 in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason national poll, raised their record to 2-1.
The second-ranked Red Raider women’s basketball continued their dominance by posting a 99-58 win over the Dakota State Lady Trojans in Madison, SD Wednesday night.
Dakota State dropped their overall record to 1-1. Northwestern the number two team in the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason poll, defeated their third straight opponent from the former Dakota Athletic Conference foes to start the season (3-0 overall record).
