Orab Baseball And Softball Teams Have Mixed Results on Tuesday

Orab-LogoThe Sheldon softball and baseball teams were both in action Tuesday. At the Orab Baseball Field Sheldon won a rescheduled game against Central Lyon on a 4-1 score.

The Orab softball team was at Newell Fonda and came up on the short end of an 8-5 score.
At Sheldon the big inning for the baseball team was a three run third inning. They put another run on the board in the bottom of the six. The Lions scored in the top of the seventh to make the final 4-1 Sheldon.

The Orabs were led by Grant Weaver who drove in three runs while going 1-for-3 at the plate. The other rbi belonged to Travis Buyert. Central Lyon was led by Drew Roskam who went 3-for-4 in the contest.

Logan Otis got the win giving up 1 run on 10 hits. He struck out 6 and walked 5. Luke Gooters was tagged with the loss. He gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. Grooters walked 1 and struck out 4.


At Newell Fonda the host team Mustangs opened with four runs in the first and two more in the bottom of the seventh. Single runs came in the fifth and sixth innings as they took a 6-0 lead into the top of the fourth inning. The Sheldon comeback produced a pair of runs in the fourth, a single run in the sixth and two more in the seventh but it wasn’t enough as Newell Fonda held on for the win.

Abbi Meendering and Tori Meendering drove in two runs each with Mackensey Radke driving in one.

Allie Jongewaard was tagged with the loss giving up 3 earned runs while walking 4 and striking out 1.

Next action for both the Orab softball and baseball teams will be on Thursday when they host Boyden Hull Rock Valley.
