Orab Nation Celebrates Saturday Night
Date posted - March 11, 2013
The Class 2A State Champion Sheldon Orab Boys Basketball Team was welcomed home Saturday night in a celebration of Orab Nation at the high school gym. The Orab team was welcomed with a loud ovation as they entered the gym.
The program began with a look back at the tournament run beginning with the District title game in Spencer, the Substate win in overtime at Orange City and the three game State Tournament run that culminated in the State Title.
Head Coach Claude Struve then took the microphone to share his thoughts about the season and his final Orab team. The seniors then gave their thanks to the crowd and reflected on their accomplishment as the first State Champion Basketball Team in school history.
Following the senior’s remarks Farm Bureau representatives awarded each player and the coaches with a game ball as each was announced by number, height and position one final time this season to a loud ovation from the Orab faithful on hand to celebrate their achievement.
