Orabs Advance After Defeating Cherokee

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs advanced to the Class 2A District 3 final after defeating Cherokee 66-41 Thursday night at the O-Rena. The Orabs will take on Sioux Center at LeMars on Tuesday, February 20th. Sioux Center earned a spot in the District final with a 64-43 win over Estherville Lincoln Central.

The Orabs led at all the breaks. Sheldon ended the first quarter leading 17-6, and at the intermission led 36-12 after a Tyler Johnson halftime buzzer beater from beyond the arc to give him fourteen first half points. After three, Sheldon led 57-28, and went on to the 66-41 victory.

Sheldon got a game high sixteen points from Kyle Boerhave, fourteen points from Johnson, and eleven from Tyler Lode. Jack Benson from Cherokee had a team high ten points.

Sheldon improves to 19-3 on the season and Cherokee ends their year at 6-16.
