OrabsThe Sheldon Orabs are the 2013 Iowa Class 2A Boys State Basketball Champions!!!  The Orabs captured the title with a 48-36 win over West Fork in a game played Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The Orange led at all the breaks:  16-10 at the end of the 1st quarter, 24-15 at the half  and 34-25 at the end of 3, enroute to the 48-36 victory.

Sheldon had four players in double figures on the night, with Nate Oostra leading the way with 12 points.  Chris Balster  Dallas Ennema and James Gradert each added 10, while the Orabs got 2 points each from Hunter McDonald, Colin Wolthuizen and Tom Brown.

The Orabs landed a pair of players on the 2A All-Tournament Team.  Chris Balster was named to the squad, along  with All-Tournament Teacm Captain Dallas Ennema. Nate Oostra was named the IHSSN Player of The Game.

With the win, the Orabs end the season at 25-3, while West Fork picked up their only season loss in the state title game.

Friday night’s 2A Championship Game also marked the final game for Sheldon Coach Claude Struve, who will be retiring at the end of the school year, after 33 years as the Orabs bench boss.  Under Struve, Sheldon compiled a record of 432-286.

There will be a Welcome Home Ceremony for the Orabs Saturday evening at 6:45 in the Sheldon High School O-Rena, and the public is invited to attend.

Congratulations Orabs and Coach Struve, you have done us proud!!!
