The Orabs claimed the District 2 title Tuesday night with a 67-47 win over Spirit Lake in a final played at Spencer. The Wolfpack secured the District 1 title with a 60-53 win over Sioux Center in a game at LeMars. Tip off will be at 7pm Saturday night at Orange City.
Sheldon opened fast with a 21-9 first quarter lead behind a pair of three pointers from Matt Dykstra who would score 8 in the quarter including a 2-point put back as the quarter expired. Dallas Ennema scored 9 of his game high 32 in the first quarter. at the half Sheldon was in front 36-25 as Ennema pumped in 9 more. At the end of the third quarter the lead was 54-37 with Sheldon going on to win 67-47.
Ennema’s 32 point effort included 8 two-point field goal, 3 three-point field goals and a 7-of-7 performance at the line. Dykstra ended up with 14 on the night including 4 three-point buckets. James Gradert hit for 14 as well scoring 5 buckets inside and went 4-of-4 from the line. As a team Sheldon went 11-of-11 on the night.
Spirit Lake had two players in double figures as three-pointers were falling for them as well. Sophomore Alec Henrickson knocked down a 6 three-pointers on the way to 21 on the night. He pumped in 14 points in the second quarter to keep the Indians in the game. Paul Brown knocked down a pair of three’s hitting for 10 points on the night.
With the win Sheldon improves to 21-3 on the season while Spirit Lake finishes at 16-8.
In Substate 1 the match up is Sheldon and Western Christian Saturday night with the winner moving on to the State Tournament in Des Moines.
