Orabs Fall to Comets in Regular Season Finale

The Sheldon Orab boy’s basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 54-51 road loss at Boyden Hull Friday night. With the loss and a 55-51 West Lyon win over MOC Floyd Valley the Siouxland Conference season ends with a three way tie at the top between Sheldon, Boyden Hull and MOC Floyd Valley who all finish with 15-3 conference records.
Sheldon opened with a 24-12 first quarter lead only to see the Comets close to 34-28 at halftime. At the end of three quarters Sheldon led 44-43 and the lead would go back and forth the rest of the way with Boyden Hull posting the win 54-51.
Sheldon got a game high 19 points from Dallas Ennema, 14 from James Gradert and 12 more from Nate Oostra. Boyden Hull had three players in double figures as well with Collin Bolkema hitting for 14 points. Riley Francis and Brandt Van Roekel added 13 each.
With the win the Comets finish the regular season at 15-3 in the conference and 18-3 for the year. The Orabs close the regular season at 15-3 in the conference with a 19-3 overall record.
Up next for Sheldon will be the 2A District 2 Semifinals on Thursday February 14th as they got a bye in the first round and will await the winner of Monday’s game between Sioux Central and Emmetsburg.
Boyden Hull opens play in Class 1A District 2 on Thursday as well. They will be at home Thursday night against the winner of Mondays play in game between West Sioux and Akron Westfield.
