Orabs Hold Off Wildcats

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs ended their regular season with a conference victory over the West Lyon Wildcats Friday night at the O-Rena. Sheldon won 62-55.

Sheldon led at all the breaks. After a slow start to the game, Sheldon led after one quarter 13-7. Heading into the break, the Orabs were able to maintain their six point lead at 27-21. Sheldon pulled away in the third quarter after holding the Wildcats to only five points, and heading into the final quarter, the Orabs led 39-26. West Lyon was only able to close the gap to eight late in the fourth quarter, and the Orabs went on to the 62-55 victory.

Sheldon had three players in double figures. Jaden Kleinhesselink had a team high nineteen. Ryan Van Marel added thirteen, along with Kyle Boerhave’s twelve. Korbyn Gramstad of West Lyon had a game high twenty-one points. Micah Meyer added seventeen, and Malachi Van Wyhe put in ten points.

With the win, the Sheldon boys end their regular season at 18-3, 15-3 in the Siouxland. West Lyon falls to 13-8, 10-8 in the Siouxland. 

Up next for the Orabs is the Class 2A District 3 semifinal against either Cherokee or Sibley-Ocheyedan on Thursday, February 15th at the O-Rena at 8:00 pm. West Lyon will start their tournament run against West Sioux at Unity Christian in Orange City on Monday, February 12th at 6:30 pm in the Class 2A District 2 quarterfinal
