The Orabs opened the scoring with an 11 yard run by quarterback Jaden Kleinhesselink. Parker Nissen added the extra point and Sheldon was up 7-0 with 3:35 left in the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter a 53 yard drive came to a close as Kleinhesselink scored from 3 yards out. Nissen added the extra point and the Orab lead was 14-0 with 10:49 left in the half.
A Tyler Lode interception set up a 50 yard drive. Alex Zolle scored the first of three touchdowns on the night with a 3 yard run. The kick was blocked and Sheldon led 20-0 with :09 seconds left in the half.
The Orabs scored first in the second half as Lode picked off another pass and returned it to the Pocahontas Area 5 yard line. Zolle went in from 3 yards out and scored on a 2-point conversion as well to make it 28-0 with 8:57 left in the third quarter.
The Indians got on the board with 7:53 left in the third as Jace Davidson found Noah Anderson on a 54 yard screen play. It was Davidson to Cameron Callion for the 2-point conversion and the Sheldon lead was cut to 28-8.
The Orabs countered with a 98 yard time consuming drive taking the remainder of the third quarter. Brandon Winkel pick off a pass and returned it to the 39 yard line. A penalty during the play put the line of scrimmage at the Sheldon 2 yard line. Zolle capped the drive with his third touchdown of the night on a 4 yard run. Nissen added the extra point and it was 35-8 in favor of Sheldon with no time left in the third quarter.
The Orabs were on the board again with 9:30 left in the game as Kleinhesselink found Phillip Cain on a 29 yard touchdown pass. Nissen was good once again on the extra point and Sheldon had pushed the lead to 42-8.
Pocahontas Area closed out the scoring with 7:17 to play as Noah Anderson scampered 44 yards for the score. It was Davidson to Jacob Hinrickson for the 2-point conversion to make the final 42-16.
With the win Sheldon improves to 4-4 on the year and 2-4 in the district. Pocahontas Area is 0-8 on the year and 0-6 in the district. Sheldon closes out the season at Cherokee next Friday. Pocahontas Area will close on the road as well with a trip to Sioux Center.
