The Sheldon Orabs a split a Siouxland Conference doubleheader at MOC Floyd Valley Monday. The softball team rode an eight run second inning to a 10-3 win. On the baseball diamond the Dutch scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn an 8-5 win over the Orabs.
Abbi Meendering led the offense driving in four runs with a 1-for-3 night at the plate. She scored two runs as well. Krista Bousema drove in a pair of runs with Jessica Van Beek, Caitlin Cain and Mackensey Radke driving in one run each.
Sam Wielenga, Emily Mc Donald and Erica Johnson each drove in a run for MOC Floyd Valley.
Allie Jongewaard earned the win throwing a three hitter while walking 3 and striking out 2. Emily Mc Donald took the loss. She walked 6 while striking out 8.
On the baseball diamond MOC Floyd Valley rallied late with a four run sixth inning to take an 8-5 win. Derek Rupp led the way with a 3-for-4 night including 3 rbis and a run scored. Sheldon was led by Logan Otis who went 2-for-4 with 3 rbis. Matt Buenger was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Grant Weaver had the other rbi going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Colin Pennings went seven innings to earn the win. He gave up 3 earned runs on 10 hits walked 1 and struck out 9. Mitch Jensen took the loss going five and two thirds walking 1 and striking out 2.
The Orab softball team is in action tonight hosting Spirit Lake. Both the softball and baseball teams will host to Sioux Center in conference play Wednesday night.
