The Sheldon Orabs hosted Spencer in Baseball and Softball Monday night as all four teams opened the season. On the softball diamond Sheldon came from behind with two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-4 win. Highlighting the offense was Krista Bousema with a third inning home run.
On the baseball diamond Spencer rode a 15 strike out 2 hit performance from Weston Glienke and some timely two out hitting for an 8-2 win.
Spencer put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the third as Michael Klemme hit a two run homer to left that scored Blake Rosendahl who had reached on a single.
Sheldon answered with a pair in the home half of the inning as Logan Ottis and Jake Rosburg both reached base. Ottis scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Mitchell Jensen and Rosburg would later score on a wild pitch.
Spencer added two run innings in the fourth, fifth and sixth as they went on to the 8-2 season opening win.
Jensen went the first five innings giving up 6 hits and striking out four. Ben Marshall came on in relief to start the 6th inning and gave up three hits while striking out three.
Next action for both the Orab softball and baseball teams will come on Wednesday when the baseball team plays host to Spirit Lake. The softball team will host Storm Lake.
