Orabs Sweep Wolverines

Sheldon Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs swept a non conference basketball doubleheader with South O’Brien Monday night at the Orina. The girls final was 58-46 while the boys game went to Sheldon 61-49.

A 21-8 first quarter lead was the jump start the Orabs needed in the girls game as they led at all the breaks. At halftime the lead was 31-21. The Wolverines closed to 39-34 at the end of the third quarter but the Orabs regained control in the fourth quarter to get the win 58-46.

Sheldon put three players in double figures. Cassidy Bart had a team high 15 points. Emily Meyer was next with 13 while Brooklyn Grady added 11. South O’Brien got a game high 23 from Kaylee Jacobs and 15 more from Hannah Dau.

With the win Sheldon is 5-9 on the season. For South O’Brien it was just their 5th loss against 9 wins.

In the boys game Sheldon handed the Wolverines just their 3rd loss of the year as they rode an 11-1 game opening run to the win. At the end of the first quarter the Orabs were up 15-4 and led 24-13 at halftime. The Wolverine offense erupted in the third quarter as the lead was cut to 39-32 at the end of the break. Sheldon was able to hold off South O’Brien in the fourth quarter to get the win 61-49.

Sheldon had three players in double figures led by Mitchal Wolf with 17. Brennan Radke hit for 14 with Marshall Kleinhesselink putting together an 11 point night. South O’Brien got a game high 23 points from Jackson Louscher. 20 of those points came in the second half.

With the win Sheldon is 3-10 on the year. South O’Brien is now 10-3 for the season. Up next for the Orabs will be a conference doubleheader at Okoboji. South O’Brien is off until Friday when they host Hinton in a War Eagle Conference match up.
