Orabs Wrap up Regular Season with 61-6 win Over Cherokee

Sheldon Iowa — Brady Prescott ran for 323 yards and scored 6 touchdowns rushing and passed for another Friday night. It all added up to a 61-6 win as the Orabs closed out the regular season at Orab Field. With the win Sheldon finishes the regular season at 7-2 and 5-2 in the District. Cherokee ends at 1-8 for the year and 1-7 in the District.

Sheldon scored on their first eight possessions of the ballgame jumping out to a 27-0 first quarter lead. Prescott scored on a 25 yard run. Brian Bernal added the extra point and the lead was 7-0 with 9:45 to go in the first quarter. Brennan Radke hit Tyler Merley for a 73 yard touchdown pass and the lead was up to 13-0.

An interception by Tyler Lode set the Orabs  up at the Cherokee 36 yard line. Radke finished the drive with a 5 yard run and Bernal’s extra point made it 20-0 with 4:51 left in the first quarter.

A 31 yard pass from Prescott to Kyle Boerhave out of the wildcat and the extra point kick by Bernal put Sheldon up 27-0 with 2:02 left in the first quarter.

Four touchdowns by Prescott in the second quarter and a pair of Bernal kicks put the Orabs up 55-0 late in the first half. Prescott scored on runs of 1 yard, 62 yards, 1 yard and 42 yards. After the fourth touchdown a potential blocked kick was turned into a 2-point conversion when holder Tyler Merley pulled the ball off the tee and went in for two.

After holding the Orabs on downs Cherokee went 61 yards for a score. Alex Paulsrud found Kobe Grell for a 7 yard score to get the Braves on the board. The extra point was blocked and Sheldon was up 55-6 at halftime.

The Orabs took the second half kick off and went 70 yards for the games final score. With a running clock Prescott scored his 6th rushing touchdown of the game from 2 yards out with 5:06 left in the third quarter. The kick was blocked and the final score would be 61-6.
