Post To Play Football, Run Track For NWC


Cody Post of Rock Valley has signed a letter of intent to continue his football and track and field careers at Northwestern College next fall.

Post is a 6’2″, 195-pound wide receiver and defensive back who played three years for the Boyden-Hull / Rock Valley football team. Post was named second team all-state and first team all-district after totaling 29 catches for 768 yards and nine touchdowns his senior year. He accounted for 19 tackles and two interceptions on defense in leading his team to a class 3A state runner-up finish with an 11-2 record.

“Cody is a great addition to our football team,” commented Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. “He is a gifted athlete and playmaker on both sides of the ball. Cody had a tremendous senior year and has been coached well throughout his career. We are so excited to have Cody choose to continue his career and schooling at Northwestern.”

Now in his fourth year competing for the Nighthawks track and field team, Post qualified for the state meet in three events as a junior. He finished seventh as a member of the 4×200, fourth in the sprint medley and sixth in the 4×100. Post has personal bests of 11.23 in the 100m. A member of the National Honor Society, Post plans to major in Accounting at Northwestern. He is the son of Randy and Laura.

“We are excited to welcome Cody to our track and field team,” said Northwestern Coach Scott Bahrke. “He is a strong sprinter who has had an accomplished career running for Boyden-Hull / Rock Valley High School. Cody is a hard worker, a great teammate and will be an asset to our team and to our campus.”
