Rockets Fly By Braves

Rock Valley, Iowa — Cherokee and Rock Valley battled in Rock Valley Monday night for the 2nd game of our broadcast doubleheader. Rock Valley came out on top over the Cherokee Braves 71-42.

Rock Valley and Cherokee traded baskets throughout the first quarter, and at the end of the opening period it was 14-10 Rockets. The 2nd quarter would continue the back-and-forth between Cherokee and Rock Valley, but the Rockets would take charge midway through the quarter and extend their lead to 32-19 at the midway point. By the end of the 3rd, Rock Valley pushed the score to 56-25, and would come away victorious with a score of 71-42.

Rock Valley was lead by Myles Van Maanen with a game high 16 points, 10 of those coming in the 3rd quarter. Brett Moser added 15 of his own, 10 of those coming in the pivotal 2nd quarter, and Jason Taylor added 13.

The Braves had two players in double figures. Trey Valentine had 11 points before fouling out early in the 4th quarter, and Adam Cedar added 10 points of his own.

The Rockets improve to 13-9 on season. Cherokee ends their year at 6-16.

Rock Valley advances to the Class 2A District 1 semifinal to take on Hinton at Sioux Center at 6:30 pm Thursday night.
