Schoonhoven Signs With Northwestern Softball

Northwesstern logoOrange City, Iowa — Tessa Schoonhoven has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Northwestern next fall.

Schoonhoven is a multi-sports standout who played five years for the Unity Christian High School softball team. A two-time all-conference selection, Schoonhoven hit .378 with a team-high seven home runs and 18 RBIs in earning first team honors last season. She also stole 15 bases and posted a 10-14 record and 4.79 ERA as the teams’ top pitcher. Schoonhoven registered 105 strikeouts in 152 innings. An honor roll student, Schoonhoven plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Marlin and Leah.

“We are thrilled to have Tessa join our Red Raider softball program,” commented head Northwestern softball coach Chris Nachtigall. “She is a great athlete who can play a number of different positions in the field. Tessa is a very hard worker and a great teammate, two qualities that we want to see in our players. She is a great addition to our program and campus community.”
