Second Half Rally Gives Warriors Victory

Boyden Hull Rock Valley fell 35-21 to Sergeant Bluff-Luton in the final non district contest of the 2018 regular season in Sergeant Bluff.

In the first quarter the Nighthawks jumped out to a 14-0 lead with two J.T. Van’t Hul scoring runs. The first on a broken play scramble for 30 yards, and the second on a 1 yard quarterback keeper.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton jumped on the board with 6:10 to go in the second quarter with an 8 yard Britton Delperdang touchdown run, taking advantage of a Nighthawk fumble and a short field.

In relief, Keyton Moser drove the Nighthawks 65 yards in 7 plays towards the end of the first half, making the halftime score 21-7 in favor of the Nighthawks.

28 unanswered points in the second half propelled the Warriors to a 35-21 victory. 13 points scored on the first two drives. The first of the two drives was a grinding 12 play drive finished off with a 9 yard touchdown pass from Daniel Wright to Deric Fitzgerald.  Than after a punt by the Nighthawks the Warriors scored on a 74 yard pass from Wright to Spencer Kleene.

Clinging to a 21-20 at the start of the fourth quarter the Nighthawks gave up 15 more points on two more Daniel Wright passes. The first on a 20 yard pass to Connor Groves, and the second an 32 yard pass to Tristan Navrkal.  The final score was 35-21.

The Nighthawks fall to 3-1, and face the Central Lyon George Little Rock Lions next week in Hull. The Warriors improve to 3-1 and play Heelan next week to kick off district play.
