Sheldon and Sibley Ocheyedan Split Basketball Doubleheader

Sibley Iowa — Sheldon and Sibley Ocheyedan split a Siouxland Conference basketball doubleheader in Sibley Tuesday night. The Sheldon girls got the season sweep with a 70-33 win while the Generals got a season sweep for the boys with a 75-56 win.

In the girls game Sheldon got off to a 20-9 first quarter lead and rode that momentum the rest of the way as they led at halftime 33-18 on route to the 70-33 win.

The Orabs had three players in double figures with Cassidy Bart and Emily Meyer each hitting for a dozen. They were joined by Brooklyn Grady with an 11 point night. Sibley Ocheyedan got a game high 18 points from Kelli Greenfield.

With the win Sheldon is 7-10 on the season and 3-10 in the conference. The Generals are 0-16 on the year.

In the boys game the Orabs led 18-15 at the end of the first quarter on a bucket underneath at the buzzer by Ty Sudbeck who finished with 14 points. Sudbeck was joined by Mitchal Wolf who also scored 14 including 11 in the third quarter . At the half Sibley Ocheyedan had taken a 33-26 lead. By the end of the third quarter the lead was up to 56-43 with the Generals getting the win and the season sweep 75-56. Sibley Ocheyedan hit 12-of-14 free throws in the final quarter to nail down the win.

The Generals put four players in double figures getting a game high 24 points from Grant Brouwer. Lane Tangeman hit for 13 points. Also in double figures were Caleb Mayer with 12 and Jagger Johnson with 10 points.

With the win Sibley Ocheyedan is 8-8 on the year and 5-8 in the conference. Sheldon is 4-12 for the year and 2-11 in the Siouxland. Up next for Sheldon will be a home doubleheader Friday with George Little Rock. For the Generals it’s a trip to Okoboji on Friday.
