Sheldon Boys Headed To State Basketball Semifinal

OrabsThe Orabs are on their way to the class 2a semifinal with a 63-57 win over Pella Christian.

The third seeded Orabs will meet seventh seed Kuemper Catholic Thursday tip time is 3:45. Kuemper advanced with a 61-54 win over second seeded Nodaway Valley. Sheldon goes in at 23 – 3 and Kuemper will take a 17 – 8 record into the contest.

Sheldon led after the first quarter 14-12 and at the half the lead was 27-26 Orabs. At the end of third quarter Matt Dykstra drained a three pointer from the right corner at the buzzer making the score 43-38 at that point. The Orabs went onto win 63-57 with clutch free throw shooting inside the last minute of the game going 5-5 to clinch the victory.

Sheldon had four of their five starters in double figures with Chris Balster leading the way with 21 followed by Dallas Ennema with 13, James Gradert with 11 and Dykstra with 10.

The Eagles had a game high 22 from Riley Stursma including six three point buckets. He was joined by Sebastian Baugh with 13 and Austin Ver Meer with 10 points. The Eagles close the season with a record of 20-5.
